In Memory

Recently, Penn State Soccer said goodbye to one of the finest players to wear the blue and white. John Pinezich, the captain of the 1954 National Champions passed away this spring.

John was a 4 year letterman, and member of the Penn State squad that made the 1951 historic tour of Iran. Pinezich, a US Air Force Veteran, graduated from Penn State with a Civil Engineering degree.

After graduation, he continued his soccer career with the Eintracht S.C. in the German-American League. John helped them win the 1955 US Open Cup when he scored two goals in the 2-0 final victory. He was selected to play for the United States National team in that same year.

A quiet, easy going husband, father and youth coach, John Pinezich will be missed but not forgotten.
